Opelousas Police are currently investigating an early morning shooting that occurred just after 1:00 AM on Wednesday  morning.  An Opelousas Police officer who was on patrol in the area of N. Market and Eliza St. was alerted by persons in the area of a victim that had been shot. Officers located one adult male victim lying in a driveway near the intersection of Market & Eliza. Streets. The victim appeared to have been struck by multiple rounds of gunfire. The victim was transported to a local hospital and was considered to be in critical condition. Investigators are currently interviewing persons who may have information related to the shooting.  The investigation is ongoing and no other information is available at this time.
