OGHS To Close The Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit

Since 1995, the Inpatient Rehab Unit at Opelousas General Health System has served countless patients in achieving independence and in assisting them in their road to recovery.   We commend the physicians, nurses and allied health professionals who have contributed to the reputable program we have had.

Kenneth Cochran, RN, DSc, FACHE, President & CEO of Opelousas General Health System announces the closure of the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit effective January 1, 2023.  Due to changes in technology and proactive medical management, we are sending patients directly home following major orthopedic and neurologic events.  The combination of these factors is leading to less of a need for rehab beds.  As healthcare continues to change, our health system must evolve, finding different ways to ensure our patients have necessary resources in this community.

At this time, Opelousas General Health System will no longer provide rehabilitation services at our South Campus located at 3983 I-49 South Service Road.  If you or a loved are in need of rehabilitative care, please contact your primary care physician.
