Flag Day At Vets Memorial

The St. Landry Parish Veterans Memorial Events Center hosted a Flag Day observance Saturday that featured interactive events for the participants, as well as veterans who introduced themselves and described the years they spent in military service.

Executive Director Pat Mason hosted the event which also recognized the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army.

Participants who arrived during the morning engaged in an historical quiz in connection with the history of the American flag.

The activity additionally included trivia questions about the origins of the flag, several of the distinctive features on the flag and questions about the evolution of the design which have changed over the centuries.

Among the veterans who attended were a Vietnam combat veteran, a Vietnam veteran who served with a combat engineering unit, a Marine Corps veteran and a longtime member of the Louisiana National Guard.
