The Opelousas Museum and Interpretive Center had a soft opening on Tuesday, Dec. 8, with the official grand re-opening coming sometime in January 2022 according to museum director, Patrice Melnick. Melnick was on hand Tuesday to welcome visitors as they signed in and to give information on upcoming exhibits that will be on display. The first new exhibit, in conjunction with Black History Month in February, will be an exhibit on black farmers in St. Landry Parish. Also visiting the museum on Tuesday was Mayor Julius Alsandor.
