Five veteran St. Landry Parish teachers and employees announced their retirements Thursday night during a monthly St. Landry Parish School Board meeting.
The five retirees account for 141 cumulative years of teaching and working in various areas of the school district.
Among the retiring teachers and employees noted at the meeting were Danny Ortego Jennifer Vidrine, Glenda Stephens, Leroy Quebedeaux and Lisa Soileau.
According to the retirement presentations during the meeting, Ortego from Port Barre High, has 31 years of teaching. Stephens worked 14 years at the pupil appraisal center, while Quebedeaux taught 19 years at Port Barre.
Soileau, who was the only one of the retiree group present during the presentation, was a French teacher at Eunice High for 32 years.
Vidrine was an employee at the pupil appraisal center for 45 years.
