Opelousas Police are currently investigating an early morning homicide that occurred just before 1:00 AM on Monday morning. Opelousas Police were called to a residence in the 1200blk of Ina Clare Dr. in reference to someone being shot. Upon arrival officers found a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in an apartment in the 1200blk. of Ina Clare Dr.
The victim was not showing any signs of life when officers arrived. Emergency medical personnel confirmed the victim was deceased. Investigators are currently interviewing persons who may have information related to the homicide. The victim has been identified as 31 year old Kendol Payne of Opelousas.
The investigation is ongoing and no other information is available at this time. Updates will be sent as they are available.
