Eighth grader Kendall Costano makes her home in Lakeland, Fla. with her parents, Heather and Kevin and big sister Brianna. She lives in Florida but according to her Cajun relatives, her mother and grandmother are both from Opelousas and have instilled in her the Cajun culture and the joie de vivre the exuberant joy of life enjoyed by the Cajun culture.
I had the pleasure of talking with Kendall when the family spent the Thanksgiving holidays at the home of John and Donna Miller her aunt and uncle and her cousin Kadie. She also spent time with her great grandmother who is 100% Cajun. During their week long visit Kendall and her sister spent much time with their great grandmother visiting other relatives and visiting with her ferrel cat which they named “Brendal” after their names. Kendall was the only one that could pet the aforementioned wild animal.
