Opelousas Police responded to an early Sunday morning shooting in the 1400 Plaisance St. just after 3:00 A.M. Officers responding to the call found one adult male and one adult female victim that had been struck by several rounds of gunfire. The male victim’s injuries were immediately fatal. The female victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The initial investigation determined that unknown suspect(s) fired several rounds at a residence that was occupied by (6) individuals at the time of the shooting resulting in the (2) victims being struck by gun fire. Investigators are following up on leads as to why the home was targeted. We ask that the family of the victims be kept in the prayers of the community. Information on the deceased victim will be released later as the family deals with the tragedy.
