“There’s too many shootings in Opelousas and Lafayette,” says Tyrone Glover. Because of the violence in and around the area, the Tyrone Glover Foundation is sponsoring a trip for young adults to the Angola Rodeo on October 23, 2022.
The foundation is helping to mentor young adults in the area by bringing 100 of them to the rodeo, which is something it’s done in the past. According to Glover, “this year’s trip is more important than ever before. These young people will be mentored by myself, Captain and U. S. Congressman Clay Higgins and prison inmates.”
Glover says Captain Congressman Higgins is also helping to sponsor the trip, something he’s been a part of since he was a St Landry Parish Sheriff Deputy and on Crime Stoppers. “Everything is paid for by us, and is absolutely free for all kids that participate,” says Glover. “Those interested will receive a free $20.00 ticket, a T-shirt, the bus ride and their meal, all paid for by the sponsors.”
The bus will depart from 1112 North Main Street in Opelousas on Sunday, October 23, 2022. Line up is 8:30am, with the bus departing at 9:00am.
Glover says the seats are filling up fast, with half of them already filled. But there is room for about 30 more, he says. For anyone interested or for more information, contact Tyrone Glover at 337-331-4498.
