Brandon Ledet leads Zydeco Capital Jam

Accordionist draws from classic and contemporary influences

Zydeco accordionist and band leader Brandon Ledet leads the Zydeco Capital Jam from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. March 12 at the St. Landry Parish Visitor Center, I-49 exit 23, just north of Opelousas. Since February 2019, the jam has welcomed seasoned zydeco musicians and newcomers to play in St. Landry Parish, the cradle of Grammy winners Clifton Chenier, Rockin’ Sidney and Terrance Simien.

Born and raised in Mossville, located near Lake Charles, Ledet followed his family ties and love of Louisiana culture to form his own band, Brandon Ledet and Creole Touch, in 2012. He forged a sound that mixes old-time Creole music, the roots of zydeco, with the modern influences of Zydeco Force, Beau Jocque and other contemporaries.

Brandon is a cousin of singer Joshua Ledet, who placed third in the 2012 season of “American Idol.” Brandon Ledet played before a capacity crowd in Burton Coliseum for Josh’s “Idol Homecoming” in Lake Charles.

The Zydeco Capital Jam is open to all musicians and fans. For more information, visit the St. Landry Parish Tourist Commission website at cajuntravel.com.
