The son of Jules Leopold Cahanin (1862-1953) and Philomene Marvina Richard (1866-1919), Leopold was born on November 5, 1891, in Opelousas, LA. He served in World War One. On September 15, 1919, he married Helen Theresa Dehmer (1899-1985), the daughter of Theodore P. Dehmer and Anna Grummer, in Little Rock, Pulaski County, AK. The couple settled in Little Rock, Arkansas following the end of WWI. He died on May 2, 1959, in Little Rock, AK where he is buried in Calvary Cemetery.
