The Tri-Parish Fair in Eunice was one of the top highlights of the year for the parishes involved. Promoting the three parishes of St. Landry, Acadia and Evangeline, the fair was started in 1927 and went on until the early part of the 1950s. It was held in Eunice since that town is where the three parishes come together.

The first Tri-Parish Fair was celebrated for three days, October 20-22, 1927. Over the years, that fair was packed with activities including football and basketball tournaments, and many contests where participants could vie for first, second and third place. The Tri-Parish Fair attracted people from the three parishes, plus others from across the state and even other states to Eunice for the celebration.

The featured photograph from the past shows KSLO Radio as it broadcasted from the Tri-Parish Fair sometime during the early 1950s. The bottom photograph shows the Tri-Parish Fair grounds in 1947. (Photographs from Carola Lillie Hartley collection.)
