

A 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony was held Monday morning on the steps of the St.Landry Parish Courthouse. “The Day America Stood Still” was organized by the St. Landry Parish Veterans Memorial and St. Landry Parish Government. The program began with a prayer by Rev. Laurent De’Prins, Epiphany of the Episcopal Church pastor, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the Star Spangled Banner. Pat Mason-Guillory, SLPVM director, reflected on that fateful day followed by reflections by Sheriff Bobby Guidroz, Chief Graig LeBlanc, Percell Glaude, Patrick Fontenot, Fire Chief Joseph Bryan Chavis and Mayor Julius Alsandor. Recognition and commentary of first responders was given by Parish President Jessie Bellard. Musical selections were performed by Dr Phyllis Fisher and two of her students, Kari Sylvester and Nylah Freeman. Closing prayer was given by Minister Donald Reed.
