Saturday is Election Day for Runoff Election

This November ballot holds three crucial elections as voters will decide on candidates for vacant statewide offices which include attorney general, secretary of state and treasurer.

The November 18 Runoff election will include Opelousas Board of Alderman in District A as Victor Lewis and John Guilbeaux runoff. On the ballot for Saturday voters will also find the Health Unit Tax Renewal (Parish-wide Proposition 2.17 Mills) which provides funding for a large portion of St. Landry Parish Government’s departments, including health units, animal control, and certain coroner-related expenses.

There are four proposed amendments to the State Constitution involving veto override adjustments, unused state accounts, property tax exemptions for first responders and protections for state savings.

Sample ballots for individual precinct levels and election day results are available for viewing on the Secretary of State’s website.
