Four St. Landry Parish public schools were recognized during a month School Board meeting Thursday night with Model of Excellence presentations.
The awards were given to schools which have been able to successfully combine team teaching efforts that affect special education learners who are incorporated into regular education classrooms.
Teachers and principals at Arnaudville, Sunset and Opelousas middle schools in addition to an educational team from Palmetto Elementary were provided with recognition.
Opelousas Middle School principal Marcella Fisher said that the inclusion and cooperation among the special education and regular education teachers have effective.
“When you walk into those classroom, I couldn’t tell who the regular education teachers are or who the regular or special education students are. It has been wonderful to see,” Fisher added.
