According to Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz, “On October 14, 2022, narcotics detectives with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office received information that Michael Roy Williams was in the process of manufacturing an explosive device at his residence.”

On Friday, October 14, 2022, detectives were able to develop enough probable cause to secure a search warrant for Michael Williams’ residence.  Undercover detectives then established surveillance on the residence and observed Michael Williams travel to a local convenience store.  Detectives made contact with Michael Williams in the parking lot of the store. Michael Williams was interviewed and admitted to detectives that he had constructed an improvised explosive device similar to a “pipe bomb”, which was stored at his residence.

Detectives secured Michael Willams’ residence and located the explosive device. Detectives were able to establish a perimeter around the residence until bomb technicians could arrive and declare the device safe.

On October 14, 2022, Michael Roy Williams was transported to the St. Landry Parish Jail and charged with Manufacture and Possession of a Bomb.

Michael Roy Williams was previously arrested on October 11, 2022 and charged with 15 counts of Pornography Involving Juveniles.  He was released from jail on bond for those charges at the time of this incident.
