NEW ORLEANS, La. – The LSU Eunice guards scored 57 of the Bengals’ points as LSUE defeated Delgado 64-60 on Saturday at the Williamson Center.  LSUE improved to 8-0 in LCCAC play and continued their conference win streak to 22 games.

A back-and-forth game that featured 13 ties and five lead changes, neither team would lead by more than six points.  Alonzo Linton hit a critical three-pointer with 40 seconds remaining to give the Bengals a 61-58 lead.  Jordan Hayes would sink a pair of free throws with 10 seconds left to seal the game.

Linton led a sharp shooting effort for the Bengals, going 3-for-7 from deep while the team was 11-for-24 (45.8%).  Hayes would fill up the stat sheet with a team-high in points (17), rebounds (6) and assists (5).

Isaiah Payne shouldered the first half effort, scoring nine of his 17 points before intermission as LSUE took a slim 36-34 lead into the locker rooms.  Bryce Roberts rounded out the double-digit scorers for LSUE with 11 points off the bench including 3-for-6 from three-point.

The Bengals would hold off an impressive night shooting for Delgado as the Dolphins were 49.1% from the floor and 62.5% from three-point range.

LSUE closes out the regular season on Wednesday at home with Southern-Shreveport at 7:30PM.
