The District 6-1A race snapshot became a little clearer Thursday night as Opelousas Catholic continued to surge as the Vikings pursue a second straight league championship.
OCS recorded a 66-0 victory Friday night at North Central, as the Vikings posted a fourth shutout over the last six games.
Details of the OCS victory are incomplete, since the school provided no statistics.
While Opelousas Catholic (5-3, 3-0) remained at the top of the league standings, Catholic Pointe Coupee and Sacred Heart-Ville Platte continued to pursue the Vikings’ one game lead.

CHPC and Sacred Heart are tied for second in 6-1A.
Catholic High (7-1, 2-1), which lost to the Vikings in New Roads last Thursday (30-8) defeated St. Edmund 47-14 in a game played in Eunice.
Sacred Heart ((6-2, 2-1) added to the district drama by defeating Westminster Christian Academy (40-14) in a district game played in Ville Platte.
The only district loss for Sacred Heart this year came against CHPC (42-14).
Westminster (2-6, 1-2) and North Central (3-5, 0-3) were eliminated from district championship contention by their losses on Friday night.
Sacred Heart and Opelousas Catholic are scheduled to play at Donald Gardner Stadium this Friday night in a key 6-1A game, while Catholic Pointe Coupee visits North Central.
Westminster hosts St. Edmund.

WCA trailed 22-0 before briefly catching fire and cutting the Trojans’ lead to 22-14.The Crusaders scored unanswered on a one-yard Joseph Brown run and another of 19 yards by quarterback Stephen George.George, a freshman, completed 19 of 29 passes for 188 yards. George was also intercepted twice.Josh Cassimere finished as the Crusaders’ leading receiver (8 receptions, 99 yards), while Michael Cunningham caught three passes for 31. Cunningham also ran for 45 yards on 13 attempts.The Crusaders also compiled 250 rushing yards.St. Edmund-Catholic PC
In the victory over St. Edmund Friday night, Catholic PC rushed for 315 yards, while dominating time of possession (30 minutes, 33 seconds). The game took less than two hours to complete.
The Hornets never trailed in the game and scored on all four red zone possessions.
Offensively St. Edmund was led by running back Kevon Johnson (60 yards, 17 carries). Johnson also had four receptions for 39 yards, while Taylor Daire caught four passes for 68.
Johnson remained as one of the top rushers in St. Landry Parish (1,254 yards, 7.9 average), while quarterback Kane West has thrown for 877 yards and nine touchdowns.
Catholic Pointe Coupee never trailed in the game. The Hornets scored with 9:26 left in the first quarter on an Adam Beatty 26-yard run. Beatty finished as the leader rusher in the game (37-197).
