EUNICE, La. –  LSU Eunice Men’s Basketball used a pair of strong finishes to each half for an 84-71 win over Delgado CC on Saturday inside the HPRE Center.  The Bengals (13-3 overall, 2-0 LCCAC) captured their 25th consecutive win in LCCAC play.

After LSUE raced out to an early double-digit point lead, Delgado would charge back to take a temporary 21-20 lead.  It would be the last time the Dolphins would hold the lead.  The Bengals would close out the half with a flurry, using a 17-5 spurt to hold a 37-25 advantage at the break.

The LSUE reserves would lead the way in the first half, scoring 24 of the team’s 38 points at intermission.  Puoch Dubuol led the effort, scoring eight of his 12 points going into the locker rooms.

The Bengals turned to the three-point game in the second half, connecting on seven baskets from long range.  Bryce Roberts would pour in four trifectas in that second half, scoring all of his team-high 14 points after intermission.

LSUE would turn in a 10-for-24 (41.7%) performance from three-point, while shooting 34-for-72 (47.2%) from the field.

Kaden Pierre produced one of his best performances of the season, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds, three assists and a steal.  Reginald Stoner and Nasir DeGruy round out the double digit point scorers for LSUE, pumping in 12 and 11 points respectively.

The defense played an important role in the victory, forcing 18 turnovers and turning that into 29 points.

LSU Eunice will head back on the road for LCCAC play this Wednesday, heading up north to face Southern-Shreveport.
