Georgia picked up 50-of-52 first-place votes and remained No. 1 for the seventh consecutive week after defeating Kentucky 16-6 in Week 12. USC moved up two spots to No. 5 after its 48-45 victory over UCLA at the Rose Bowl, marking the highest ranking for the Trojans since claiming the No. 5 spot on Sept. 24, 2017.
Tennessee fell four spots to No. 9 after suffering a 25-point loss on the road to South Carolina. The poll this week marks the first time since Nov. 19, 2017 that two SEC teams did not rank in the top five of the Super 16.
North Carolina and Ole Miss dropped out of the poll completely after suffering defeats in Week 12. Kansas State and Notre Dame joined the poll, claiming Nos. 13 and 15, respectively.
The PAC-12 led all conferences with five teams, followed by the SEC with four, the Big Ten with three, Big 12 with two and the ACC and FBS Independents with one each.
