South Lafourche used short scoring drives to establish an early lead and defeat St. Edmund-Eunice in the season opener for each team on Friday night..
The Tarpons used only 15 plays to score four times and defeat St. Edmund 26-14 in the game played at Blue Jay Field.
St. Edmund scored in the first quarter on a 63-yard pass from Nathan Zaunbrecher to Blake Moran after South Lafourche took the early advantage on a Carson Orgeron 15-yard run.
The other score for the Jays occurred with 35 seconds in the game when sophomore running back Kevon Johnson ran for 87 yards. Johnson ended the game with 175 yards on 30 attempts.
Landen Dardar put the Tarpons in front permanently with an 11-yard run with no time remaining in the first period.
South Lafourche padded the 20-7 first quarter lead with a pair of unanswered scores.
In the third Dardar scored on a two-year durn. Then with 7:04 remaining in the third period, Kamden Bourg caught a 65-yard scoring pass from Orgeron.
