Grand Prairie Elementary School faculty and staff were honored last Thursday by the St. Landry School District for being recognized by staff officials as a Blue Ribbon School.
Principal Rene Suire said the school, which currently has 240 students, was given Blue Ribbon status for state test score improvement and showing significant gains in several areas of achievement.
Grand Prairie was later honored by school officials for grade growth in several areas.
Superintendent Patrick Jenkins said the Blue Ribbon designation for Grand Prairie marked the second time a District school has received the honor.
Suire told board members that the school is fortunate to have a dedicated staff that has chosen to do what it takes to make Grand Prairie successful.
