ANIMAL CRUELTY CONVICTION
On June 17, 2025, Gordon Miller,66, of Opelousas was found guilty of 14 counts of animal cruelty following a trial. The case was prosecuted by ADA Katie Ryan and investigated by St. Landry Parish Animal Control.
In February 2024, St. Landry Parish Animal Control Investigators responded to a complaint of malnourished cattle on Mr. Miller’s property. Investigators arrested Mr. Miller and seized a total of 23 animals, including cattle, horses and dogs, from his property.
Mr. Miller was found guilty of animal cruelty for failing to provide proper food, water, shelter and/or veterinary care for the animals.
As part of his sentence, Mr. Miller is prohibited from owning any more animals.
