Town of Melville, Louisiana
The Town of Melville will hold a public hearing at 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2025
at the Town of Melville Town Hall, 516 Church Street, Melville, Louisiana 71353.
The purpose of the meeting is to obtain views on the housing and community
development needs of the Town of Melville and to discuss the submission of an application
for funding under the State of Louisiana FY 2026 Community Development Block Grant
(LCDBG) Clearance Program.
The first Public Hearing will be held approximately 116 calendar days prior to the
deadline for submission of the application current funding cycle. The Citizen Participation
Plan will be available at the hearing.
The following items will be discussed at the hearing:
A. The amount of funds available for proposed LCDBG Clearance Program; community
development and housing activities is $500,000.
B. The range of activities available that may be undertaken, including an estimated 500,000
dollars of funds proposed to be used for activities that will benefit persons of low and
moderate incomes are as follows:
- The range of activities that will be undertaken include
- Demolition of Slum and Blighted Properties
- Removal of debris after demolition
- Reasonable leveling of the properties
- Owners will retain ownership of the property
- Our efforts are to benefit persons of low and moderate incomes
C. The plans of the Town of Melville for minimizing displaced persons as a result of activities
and, assisted with such funds and the benefits to be provided by the Town of Melville to
persons actually displaced as a result of such activities; and
D. The Town of Melville’s past performance on LCDBG projects funded by the State of
Louisiana.
All citizens, particularly low and moderate income residents of slum and blighted areas of
the Town of Melville are encouraged to submit their views and proposals regarding
community development and housing needs.
Accommodations will be made for persons with disabilities and/or limited English
proficiency provided that three days’ notice of received by the Town of Melville.

August 21, 2025, at 5pm and submit their views and proposals until August 28, 2025, in
