WRITERS & HISTORIANS WANTED
Help Bring St. Landry Parish History to Life
The Honorable Charles Jagneaux, St. Landry Parish Clerk of Court, invites college students,
historians, researchers, educators, writers, and other history-related professionals to explore the
remarkable historical records preserved by the St. Landry Parish Clerk of Court.
Selected participants will be granted access to historical records spanning more than 200 years
of St. Landry Parish history and will research compelling people, events, court proceedings,
properties, families, and stories found within the archives. Writers will prepare engaging 500-
word historical vignettes based upon their research and will receive $150 for each accepted
vignette.
Selected works may also be promoted to members of the film, television, and publishing
industries, creating opportunities for these remarkable stories from St. Landry Parish history to
inspire future films, books, documentaries, and other creative works.
