According to Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz, “During the early morning hours of the 10th day of June 2022 the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office Crime Suppression Team conducted a traffic stop on a black 2004 Ford Expedition in the Opelousas area.” During the traffic stop, detectives came into contact with the occupants of the vehicle and identified them as Janita Collins, Damian George and Brian Bernard Jr.

A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted and detectives located two clear plastic bags each containing clear crystals believed to be Crystal Methamphetamine with the approximate weight of 144 grams (5 ounces).  Another clear plastic bag was located containing one “chunk” of gray substance believed to be Heroin with the approximate weight 30 grams (1 ounce).  Detectives also recovered one Taurus semi-automatic .40 caliber handgun.

“The operation’s main goal continues to be to stop violent drug and weapon offenders from ‘terrorizing’ our small municipalities and communities of drive by shootings, vehicle burglaries, gun thefts, and distribution of illegal drugs,” Guidroz added.
