An arrest has been made in the March 15, 2023 shooting that fatally wounded one 22 year old Xavier Bryant of Opelousas. Lentrell Gentris age 22 of Opelousas has been booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail.

A fire on South Union Street in Opelousas last night did heavy damage to Kelly’s Diner, a popular restaurant that has operated in Opelousas for over 40 years.

Opelousas Police are currently on the scene of a shooting that resulted in the death of one male victim. The shooting occurred at about 5:00 P.M. in the 800 blk of Jerome Lp. Officers have detained several persons of interest in connection to the investigation. The investigation is active and more details will be released as they become available.
