District Attorney Chad Pitre announced that the St. Landry Parish Grand Jury returned a bill of indictment on Friday, January 13, 2023 charging Easton Shelvin, Jr. with the Second Degree Murder of Ryan’Travian Darby. The charge stems from the shooting death of Darby on Academy Street in Opelousas, LA on the afternoon of October 22, 2022. The murder was investigated by the Opelousas Police Department.
Easton Shelvin, Jr. will be formally arraigned on February 16, 2023 .
