A Comeaux Christmas

There were fireworks, food, and festivities that brought together St. Landry Parish and municipal elected officials who celebrated Christmas at the Derrick Comeaux residence Saturday night south of Opelousas.
The annual party survived a potential disruption from a late evening neighborhood power outage, but the spacious residence had backup generator power, which enabled the event to proceed as planned.
Climaxing the evening was the elaborate backyard fireworks display that featured colorful bursts whose sounds could be heard several miles away.
Entergy Inc. workers elevated on street side utility poles repairing a disabled electrical transformer had perhaps the best view of the exploding fireworks as they watched the ordnance exploding just yards away.
Partygoers left the living room area of the house to sit underneath the garage area where they spooned or forked the entrees of seafood or chicken and sausage gumbo along with crabcakes and potato salad, prepared by Comeaux.
A variety of pies were available for dessert, while snacks dipped in Comeaux’s own cheese and rotel dip prepared the party diners for the entrees that were served underneath the carport.
