Annie Mollie Weinstein Richardson, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and renowned local artist,
tragically left us on November 14, 2023.
Annie was born February 22, 1956 in Opelousas, Louisiana and spent much of her undergraduate years
living in New Orleans. She studied at Regis College in Denver; Sarah Lawrence College in Lacoste,
France; Newcomb-Tulane College in New Orleans; the University of Colorado in Boulder, where she
obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts; and, the Cornish Institute in Seattle, Washington, for printmaking. In
addition, she spent time producing commercials and movies in New Orleans, applying her artistic eye in a
different medium.
“Annie Mollie” was a radiant and dynamic personality, known for her humor, brilliance, competitive
spirit, and kindness. She fearlessly embraced adventure, from skydiving to obtaining her private pilot
license, and even served as a volunteer firefighter.
Annie married the love of her life on June 7, 1985 and for 38 years established her own family in Ruston,
Louisiana where she experienced the blessing, the life and the love of her husband, her children and her
grandchildren before her passing. Annie found joy in moments at the pond with Peter, fishing with her
granddaughters, and beach outings with the entire family.
Annie’s vibrant spirit lives on through her devoted husband, Peter Read Richardson; daughter, Taylor
Richardson Burt, and son-in-law Alex; beloved grandchildren Blake Lockwood Burt, Haas Marie Burt,
and Blair Cole Richardson; brothers Morris Hirsch Weinstein (Vicky) and John Haas Weinstein (Donna);
sister Denise Weinstein Ventre (Charles); along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong
friends.
Annie was preceded in death by her grandmother, Nathalie Haas Hirsch, parents, Dr. David “Punchy”
Weinstein and Johnice Hirsch Weinstein, and her treasured son, David Aaron Cole Richardson.
Her artistic passion enriched lives, leaving a lasting legacy of beauty and inspiration. In her own words,
“Art is my focus, passion, sanity, solace, and freedom.” While the world may feel dimmer without her,
Annie’s spirit and creativity continue to illuminate the paths of all who knew her. Her legacy in art and
love remains a guiding light for all.
Close friends and family gathered to celebrate Annie’s remarkable life on November 21, 2023. In lieu of
flowers, the family asks for donations to the AMWR Memorial Foundation, which will distribute funds to
organizations Annie held dear as well as funding art scholarships.
