Accordionist is enjoying radio airplay, participation at numerous jams

Zydeco and Creole accordionist Brandon Ledet leads the Zydeco Capital Jam from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 9 at the St. Landry Parish Visitor Center, I-49 exit 23, north of Opelousas. The jam, open to all musicians and fans, celebrates zydeco music in its cradle – St. Landry Parish.

Since 2012, Ledet has led his band, Creole Touch, which mixes traditional Creole music with contemporary zydeco. The group’s recent single, “BBL,” is enjoying airplay on zydeco radio shows.

Ledet has become a leader and regular participant at zydeco jams throughout the region. He’s active at the weekly “Old School Zydeco Jam,” an all-ages, local jam and cookout held at various venues in Lake Charles and Iowa.

Ledet hosts a Wednesday night jam at Chasers Lounge in Lake Charles. He and fellow jammers will gather for their annual Zydeco Jam Toy Drive Dec. 14 at the Peter Claver Hall, 2526 Opelousas St., in Lake Charles.
