A curtain was pulled away from the 2024 high school football season Monday morning as St. Landry Parish public school officials discussed annual jamboree plans for the event scheduled at Donald Gardner Stadium Aug. 30.
The jamboree that starts at 6 p.m. will involve North Central, Port Barre, Beau Chene, Opelousas High and host Northwest High. Eunice High will be represented by a young squad which is scheduled to play North Central in the opening game.
Eunice will involved its varsity players in the Acadia-Vermilion Jamboree Aug. 29.
Coaches who represented their schools during their meeting at the School Board office had no objection to the St. Landry Jamboree team alignment which has been in effect for the past several years.
The Monday meeting also included in-depth discussions that involved the responsibilities of school athletic trainers, concussion protocols, heat and hydration issues, athletic insurance and duties involving coaches and athletic directors.
Admission for the jamboree is $10.
