Sheriff Guidroz Issues Statement on Missing Woman’s Search In St. Landry Parish

Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz issues this statement, “This afternoon, it came to the attention of my
office that a search was being conducted in the Lawtell area of a missing person from the Rayne
area approximately 30 years ago. Elements of the Louisiana State Police and others chose to
initiate a search on private property, without any notification to the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s
Office.”
Sheriff Guidroz continues, “Jurisdiction issues notwithstanding, bringing in law enforcement
and other personnel into an area, without the notification to the chief law enforcement officer of
that jurisdiction, is seriously unprofessional. While these officers may not have need of any
other assets from our agency, we must be informed of these activities; after all, we must be able
to answer any questions from the media or our citizens in these matters.”
Sheriff Guidroz concludes, “Our only interests lie in the seeking of truth and justice for all
victims. We will help when required, bringing all of our assets and resources without fail. All
we ask is that other agencies keep us properly informed.”
