Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz reports, “On October 8, 2025, St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office
Narcotics Detectives were conducting criminal patrol in the area of Country Ridge Road. They
observed a Kia Forte with illegal window tint travelling westbound. The traffic stop was
conducted on Country Ridge Road at its intersection with I-49 Service Road. The driver was
identified as Jacorey Stelly of 308 La Compagne Street, Opelousas. A probable cause search
uncovered approximately one-half pound of marijuana, a Glock 9mm pistol and a digital scale.
The investigation resulted in a search warrant for the La Compagne Street residence, where
Javon Collins was found and detained. The following items were seized from the home:
Approximately 9 lbs. of marijuana
$ 8,745.00 in U.S. Currency
1-Palmetto Arms AR-15 rifle, 5.56 caliber
1-Smith & Wesson pistol, .40 caliber
1-Ruger American Rifle, 6.5 Creedmoor caliber
1-Chinese SKS assault rifle, 7.62×39 caliber.”
Sheriff Guidroz concludes, “This division is tireless in their efforts, they are to be commended.”
