NARCOTICS JAG GRANT OPERATION NETS CONVICTED FELON ON
PROBATION
Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz reports, “Our agency actively seeks opportunities offered by grants and other
programs. Utilizing resources from the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistant Grant Program, our narcotics
detectives were conducting an operation to obtain crystal methamphetamine from a drug dealer. The suspected
dealer was in a vehicle parked at the Andy’s #2, located at Main and Bloch Street. As the narcotics detectives
approached, the driver sped off, initiating a pursuit.” Sheriff Guidroz continues, “The suspected dealer,
identified as Kavante Richmond, exited the vehicle at Court and Littel Streets and was quickly apprehended. A
bag which was discarded by Richmond contained the following:
3 clear plastic bags of suspected crystal methamphetamine amounting to 3 ounces.
1 clear plastic bag containing approximately one ounce of marijuana.”
Sheriff Guidroz concludes, “Our unrelenting pursuit of narcotics dealers will not end. We will continue to
utilize any and all resources at our disposal to make our parish safer.”
