The 20th Annual Gumbo Cook-Off to Benefit Ashley Dupont Hatcher

Saturday, January 31, 2026 | Yambilee Ag Arena | Opelousas, LA

The Gumbo Foundation proudly announces The 20th Annual Gumbo Cook-Off, set for Saturday, January 31st, 2026, at the Yambilee Ag Arena in Opelousas, Louisiana. This year’s event honors Ashley Dupont Hatcher, a beloved wife, mother, educator, and community servant currently battling Stage 4 Breast Cancer and Bone Cancer. Ashley is receiving treatment at Mary Bird Perkins at Opelousas General Health System and continues to inspire with her strength, faith, and devotion to her family—Nathan, Ava, Avery, and Nathan Jr.

The Gumbo Cook-Off is more than a culinary competition—it’s a celebration of resilience, generosity, and Louisiana spirit. Attendees will enjoy a full day of food, drinks, music, auctions, raffles, a Kids Corner, and the ever-popular “Battle for the Paddle” gumbo showdown. Teams will compete for top honors, including First, Second, Third Place, People’s Choice, and the coveted Grand Champion Paddle.

Gates open at 8:00 AM, with the Kick-Off Ceremony at 10:00 AM and the Winners Ceremony following the 2:00 PM auction. Public gumbo sampling begins after judging samples are collected, with donations supporting Ashley and her family’s medical and related expenses.

Cook-Off registration is $50 per team. Gumbo entries must be poultry and sausage-based, cooked on-site, and submitted in provided containers. Full rules and registration details are available at www.thegumbofoundation.org or on Facebook at The Gumbo Foundation.
