Honorable Charlee Lear Sworn In as Hearing Officer

ST. LANDRY PARISH – St. Landry Parish Government announces that Honorable Charlee
Lear has been officially sworn in as the Hearing Officer for the newly established St. Landry
Parish Bureau of Administrative Adjudication.
Honorable Lear was sworn in on Tuesday, November 18th, by Honorable Charles Cravins,
Judge, 27th Judicial District Court.
In her new role, Honorable Lear will preside over administrative hearings for parish civil
ordinance violations, including illegal dumping, animal control violations, and related
adjudication matters.
An Opelousas native, U.S. Army veteran, and practicing attorney for 17 years, Honorable Lear
brings extensive legal experience to the position. She is licensed to practice law in Louisiana and
is the owner of the Law Offices of Charlee R. Lear. Charlee is married to local attorney
Christopher Lear, and together they share two daughters.
Her appointment was made by Parish President Jessie Bellard and formally confirmed by the St.
Landry Parish Council through Resolution No. 035-2025, as required by Ordinance 2025-037.
Parish President Bellard praised her appointment, stating:
“Honorable Charlee Lear has the experience, professionalism, and dedication
needed to ensure fairness and accountability in this new adjudication process. We’re
proud to welcome her into this important role for St. Landry Parish.”
The Bureau of Administrative Adjudication was established to streamline the enforcement of
civil ordinances and improve response to violations affecting quality of life throughout St.
Landry Parish.
