The local non-profit after school program, Hope for Opelousas held its annual Art Show Thursday evening in Downtown Opelousas.

The Delta Grand was the venue for the organization’s art show fundraiser. Guests were welcomed in with a wine tasting as they arrived to view the various pieces of work on display and place their bids in a silent auction. Works of art beautifully created by the kids of Hope for Opelousas were showcased throughout the Delta using different types of mediums from string art, mosaics, stained glass, alcohol ink and more. As guests walked through the exhibits messages in many of the art pieces could be easily found inspired by the mission of HFO depicting Love Changes Everything as well as Hope, Faith and Love. You could also find art pieces depicting our culture in many different forms.

The Art Show serves as a crucial fundraiser for the summer camp programs and adventures that Hope for Opelousas provides. Each summer, the staff puts on programming to enrich and continue learning for the participants including Kids Across America, a week-long experience that provides opportunities for swimming, hiking, climbing and Christian fellowship.

Proceeds from the Art Show’s silent auction helps to subsidize the cost of camp and summer programming, allowing children the opportunity they may not have otherwise.
