Hope for Opelousas Launches Giving Day to Fuel Adventure, Leadership, & Growth for Youth
Opelousas, LA – Hope for Opelousas, a local nonprofit dedicated to providing tutoring services and mentorship to Opelousas youth, is launching its inaugural 24-hour fundraiser, Hope for Adventure: Giving Hope Giving Day, on Friday, May 30.
“Hope goes far beyond the classroom doors at Hope for Opelousas,” said Loren Carriere, Executive Director of Hope for Opelousas. “Our students grow when they’re challenged to step outside their comfort zones, whether it’s hiking through the Grand Canyon, canoeing their first river, or leading a younger peer on a service trip. Adventure Crew helps turn those moments into milestones.”
The one-day campaign aims to raise funds to support Hope for Opelousas’ year-round investment in Adventure and Enrichment programs, including the organization’s annual attendance at Kids Across America Camp, summer camp on Hope for Opelousas’ campus, and the signature Adventure Crew, which helps students learn to be leaders by experiencing service work, outdoor exploration, and life-changing opportunities beyond their neighborhood.
“For many of our students, these trips are the first time they see a bigger world and begin to believe they can find their place in it. These adventures give our kids the courage to dream differently.”
The organization’s goal is to sponsor more than 100 students this year’s programming, covering the costs of transportation, meals, camp tuition, equipment, and mentorship support.
