Zydeco Jam at NUNU Presents “Le Grande Jam” Celebrating Louisiana Creole Music and Culture

ARNAUDVILLE, LA — This month’s Zydeco Jam at NUNU will be a very special one as October is International Creole Heritage Month. For this month’s jam, we’re doing what we call a “Le Grande Jam,” featuring Louisiana Creole music icons Jeffery Broussard, Mark Ardoin, and Brandon Ledet leading the jam.

Taking place at NUNU Arts & Culture Collective in Arnaudville, the event is a free, open jam session from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Musicians of all ages and skill levels are invited to bring their instruments and join us as we come together to play, learn, and celebrate the living tradition of Louisiana Creole music.
“Le Grande Jam” is our way of honoring Creole music and Creole culture in Louisiana, while creating a space where musicians can come together across generations to share the music, learn from one another, and keep these traditions alive.
Among this month’s leaders is Jeffery Broussard, a living legend and mogul in the world of Louisiana Creole and Zydeco music. Broussard’s sound and musicianship helped change the way people hear and experience Zydeco music. As the frontman and accordionist of Zydeco Force, he was part of the first Zydeco bands to feature full-band vocal harmonies. The group recorded standards, helped make Zydeco shuffles popular, and even created their own dance, the “Zydeco Push.” Broussard later went on to form his own band, Creole Cowboys, continuing his work as one of Louisiana’s important Creole musicians. He is also one of the few remaining Creole fiddlers carrying this tradition forward today.
Mark Ardoin carries a family name deeply connected to the history and legacy of Louisiana Creole, Cajun, and Zydeco music. An accomplished accordionist, Ardoin continues that musical legacy through his playing, teaching, and involvement in the Louisiana music community.
Brandon Ledet is a prominent figure in Southwest Louisiana’s music culture and has become a familiar face at local jam sessions and French music events throughout the region, including in Lake Charles and Iowa. Born and raised in Mossville, near Lake Charles, Louisiana, Ledet’s musical style blends traditional, old-time Creole music with contemporary Zydeco influences inspired by musicians such as Beau Jocque and Zydeco Force. In 2012, he formed his band Brandon Ledet & Creole Touch. Today, Ledet can often be found at jams throughout Southwest Louisiana, supporting French music and helping keep the tradition active within the community.
Together, Broussard, Ardoin, and Ledet will lead an afternoon of music that celebrates both the history and the living continuation of Louisiana Creole music.
The Zydeco Jam is an open jam session created for musicians and community members to come together, participate, learn, and share in the music. Whether you play accordion, rubboard, fiddle, guitar, percussion, or another instrument, everyone is welcome.
Le Grande Jam will take place October 17, 2026, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at NUNU Arts & Culture Collective, 1510 Courtableau Hwy, Arnaudville, Louisiana. The event is free and open to all ages and skill levels.
