From 3pm to 6pm Saturday the St. Landry Parish Courthouse Square was filled with festive cheer culminating with the unveiling of the historic Nativity Scene at dusk. The family friendly celebration had a special guest visitor, the one and only Santa Claus who was more than happy to have his picture taken with kids of all ages. Further down the square there was Santa’s train giving free rides to the kids. There were also vendors along Court Street organized by Black Pot Bookshop showcasing local artists, specialty items and delicious food. The Grinch also set up shop where he was making friendship bracelets. Local choirs provided seasonal music and to help ward off the cold the Opelousas Kiwanis Club provided free bowls of taco soup and Abacus Coffee provided free coffee. This annual event was sponsored by Opelousas Main Street.
