FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – MARCH 3, 2024
EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice Baseball capped off its dominant weekend with another run-rule of Garrett College 11-1 in seven innings on Sunday at Bengal Stadium. The Bengals (21-0) have induced the mercy rule six of their last seven games and 13 times already this season.
It was a similar formula used all weekend against the Lakers as the Bengals would strike for big chunks of offense at a time. LSUE plated three runs in the second inning, highlighted by a RBI double from Tyson LeBlanc who would come in and score after one of three Garrett College errors.
LSUE added five more in the third inning, using three hits, an error and three free passes. Carson Carey and LeBlanc both connected on RBI doubles in the inning as LSU Eunice pushed its lead to 8-0.
LeBlanc led the LSUE attack with a 3-for-4 game, adding another RBI in the fifth for a 3-RBI outing. He would also score two runs. Teddy Johnson helped put the mercy rule into effect with a two-out two-run double to take the Bengals’ lead to 11-1.
Owen Schexnaydre turned in his sixth win of the season, going four innings. Schexnaydre scattered one earned run off two hits while not issuing a free pass. He tallied eight of the team’s 14 strikeouts in the game.
Liam Watt, Collier Barham, Nick Gisclair and Will Mabry combined for the final three innings of work on the mound.
LSU Eunice is back at home next weekend as the Bengals welcome 2023 NJCAA Division II National Runner-up Southeastern Community College (Iowa) to town.
