Rev. Michael Richard, Historical Commission for the Cause of Canonization chairman, studies the archives of Lt. Father Joseph Verbis LaFleur Friday at the residence of Carola Lillie Hartley. He is being assisted by Mary D. Ashley, ecclesiastial notary. Rev. LaFleur(January 24, 1912 – September 7, 1944) was a Roman Catholicpriest of the Military Ordinariate of the United States who died in the sinking of the SS Shinyo Maru and is in the preliminary stages for sainthood.
