A convoy of police cruisers parked outside the Opelousas General Hospital emergency room Monday afternoon. Opelousas Police are actively working a shooting that occurred just after 2:30 P.M. near the intersection of S. Union St. and Franklin St. Officers responded and found one male victim suffering from several fatal gunshot injuries lying in the roadway. First responders attempted live saving measures before the victim was transported to a local hospital where he ultimately succumb to his injuries. Investigators are actively speaking to witness(s) and reviewing surveillance footage in the area.
