Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz reports, “On March 10, 2026 just after 6 P.M., Narcotics Detectives
initiated an undercover operation. With the assistance of the Sunset Police Department, two
suspect vehicles had been identified. Detectives and marked units descended upon the two
vehicles and their occupants. One of the suspects, Devontae Ardoin, elected to resist officers
and attempted to flee from Sgt. Deondre Thomas and K-9 Bowy. Mr. Ardoin then met K-9
Bowy, up close and very personal. Together, Sgt. Thomas and K-9 Bowy took Ardoin into
custody. Narcotics Detectives also arrested Jakaylin Foreman and Paul Potier, occupants of the
second suspect vehicle.” Sheriff Guidroz concludes, “A significant amount of marijuana and
firearms were seized in this incident. At least one of the suspects was believed to be armed and
more than willing to fight officers. Also, a citizen, still unknown, greatly assisted officers to
capture the fleeing suspect. These are serious crimes, allegedly committed by seriously
dangerous people. We will continue to be out there, challenging all who choose to commit
these and other crimes.”
