NARCOTICS DETECTIVES THWART ILLEGAL SALE OF FIREARMS

3 cts. Felon in Possession of a Firearm
Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz reports, “On January 23, 2026, Narcotics Detectives followed up on a tip of a convicted felon
attempting to sell firearms. The electronic photographic evidence was utilized in the investigation, resulting in a search
warrant issued and executed at 1213 Redmond Street, Opelousas. There, detectives seized:
1 – Anderson AR-15 pistol,
1 – TBP 12-gauge shotgun,
1 – Taurus .38 special revolver,
1 – Digital scale,
1 – Clear plastic bag containing approximately 17.40 grams of marijuana.”
Sheriff Guidroz concludes, “Always following up on tips, no matter the source,
proximity or the likelihood of accuracy is time-consuming, but can pay big dividends.
Getting guns off the streets and away from criminals is worth the effort.”
