Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz reports, “Since the beginning of 2024, St. Landry Parish Narcotics
Detectives have been investigating Glenn Thomas “Tommy Glenn” Babineaux, a known
convicted felon, in regards to drug trafficking. On July 15, 2024, Narcotics Detectives executed
a search warrant at Babineaux’s residence where they located drugs, manufacturing equipment,
and two firearms. Babineaux ultimately bonded out of jail.”
Sheriff Guidroz continues, “Our Narcotics Detectives continued to investigate Babineaux and
established several areas he was known to associate with. On Tuesday, February 10 th , pursuant
to surveillance and a probable cause traffic stop, Narcotics Detectives once again were making a
case on Babineaux. After agreeing to speak to Narcotics Detectives, four search warrants were
obtained for various areas throughout St. Landry Parish. As the investigation continued, it
became apparent that Babineaux realized he was facing some very serious narcotics charges. In
moments of reflection and the realization that his situation was grave, Babineaux made a
grievous error. Babineaux attempted to negotiate a bribe to one of the narcotics detectives in
exchange for his freedom. The bribery was recorded, leading to an additional criminal charge.”
Sheriff Guidroz concludes, “The men and women of our Narcotics Division are above reproach;
they are honest and dedicated individuals doing the incredibly dangerous job of ridding our
Parish of illegal narcotics and the criminals that try to poison and endanger our citizens.”
