In a hearfelt jesture of legacy and service Retired U.S. Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer Susan Boudreaux donated her dress uniform to the St. Landry Parsish Veterans Memorial. On hand to accept the uniform on Saturday, Aug. 16, was SLPVM Project Director Pat Mason-Guillory.

Boudreaux, who served in the U.S. Navy from 1971-1993 retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer, is originally from. LeBeau, La. During her career she served in nine duty stations including Souda Bay, Crete Greece. Many students from Opelousas High School will remember her as the JROTC (Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps) instructor at OHS from 2000-2012.

By showcasing the uniform at SLPVM and the accomplishments of its owner, young people, especially girls and young women will be encouraged to consider careers in the armed forces or other leadership roles traditionally underrepresented by women.

Her uniform complete with ribbons and insignia will be displayed at the Bobby Dupre Welcome located on the grounds of the SLPVM.
