With three senior players already signed to play college baseball, the OCS program was expected to exhibit success this season.

So far the Vikings have upheld those preseason expectations.

OCS had already won 13 games at the start of this week and the Vikings are ranked No. 2 in the latest Division IV select power rankings.

Heading into the district schedule, OCS however still faces strong competition from third-ranked Sacred Heart-Ville Platte and No. 9 St. Edmund

Earlier this season the Vikings swept their three games in the Ouachita Christian and Ascension-Episcopal tournaments. OCS has already defeated Class 5A non-select Southside and Acadiana.

Key Players

OCS has featured a core group of seniors that include pitcher Deontre Henry, who has signed with Miles College, shortstop Jordan Luna and outfield Mark Collins.

Henry was injured most of last season, but the three-sport athlete expected to become one of the key elements of the Vikings rotation this spring.

Luna, who also played linebacker, has signed with LSU-Eunice.

Collins, the district offensive MVP in football, signed with the UL-Lafayette baseball program. Collins said he has had other college baseball offers, but he has always wanted to play for the Ragin’ Cajuns. Photos by Mike Curley
