October is National Breast Cancer Awarenss Month and Opelousas General Health System along with Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center kicked off their Paint The Town Pink campaign , September 27, from 9AM – 3PM at the OGHS Main Campus front entrance. Paint the Town Pink t-shirts were on sale, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center had their Prevention On The Go (POGO) bus on-site providing breast cancer education, and Second Harvest Food Bank’s Makin’ Groceries food truck was on selling fresh produce at discounted prices. Other refreshments were also be available for sale.
2024 marks the 17-year anniversary of PTTP, which includes a fundraising initiative with OGHS Foundation and its sponsors. Funds raised support eligible uninsured patients by providing mammograms and other health care services at Opelousas General Main Campus, Posner Center for Women and OGHS Imaging.
The 2024 theme is “Planting Seeds of Hope” and OGHS asks the community to wear a PTTP t-shirt or something pink every Friday in October.
